pinewood derby
This year Brody made his car completly on his own for the the pinewood derby in compliance with our pack rules getting back the "roots" of cub scout racing!
Off to the races we went with his built in cheering section!
He checked his car in..His car raced 8 times and smoked all the other cars every single race!!! Once it was down to the FINALS we all knew Brodys car was going to be the leader of the pack...BUT NO>>>>at that time one of the scout fathers walked over and said they would be DISQUALIFYING Brodys car as one of the wheels was significantly higher than the other ones and that did not make it have 4 point contact...What? We walked over and looked at all the cars and even touched a few and said this one doesnt have 4 points of contact and is wobbly, so does this one...Yes but ours one wheel was significantly higher than the rest...By the size of a nickel they said....so we said thats ridiculous...1..it passed check in. 2...how do we know it didnt get dropped or tipped during one of the race's 3...When did they notice it? they said the 2nd race but continued to let it race 6 more times??? We were even told that it was in the "rules" To this day we have never seen such rule about 4 point contact and have even read its a enhacement if you can get it to roll straight...To say the least Brody was quite upset and a little bewildered over what happened...Later they offered to have him make another car and re race but we thought that was silly and were not going to disapont another scout that was now told they had WON the race....We have since left the pack and joined another one as we just felt this was pety and poor sportsmanship and did not want this for a scout family!

KO's donation
Such an amazing story...
My best friend and I stepped forward 4 years ago to become donors for a dear family of ours from our church...Sadly we were not a match and our friend lost his life to cancer..
A few months ago KO got a call that she was now a perfect match for an 8 year old boy that was dying of cancer...She was asked to step forward and donate platelets to help this boy...
It took no thought at all and KO took on this very unselfish task and went to it..After many months of physicals, appointment's, injections, and a true dedication on her part she spent 7 hours sitting in an uncomfortable hospital bed with YUCK, needles in both arms for the donation process...
We have not heard back if the donation was a success yet but we do know the family that we initally sought out to help at our church has a new found peace knowing that their fathers life was not taken in vain and because of his donor drive 4 years ago a life will possibly be saved....Thank you Jesus for having your hand all over this!
